Net Positive Energy + Water Conference 2016

The What: The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) is hosting its third annual Net Positive Energy and Water Conference, dedicated to the exchange of technical expertise, bold strategies and provocative case studies—all aimed at accelerating the global shift toward Net Positive Energy and Water buildings and communities.

In the past few years, net positive energy and net zero water projects have gained tremendous momentum. New projects are rapidly emerging to transform the built environment. New regulations and policies are drafted to incentivize Net Zero Energy buildings. With the pressure of the drought in California and the Southwestern United States, it is more important than ever that we collaborate to create communities that are beneficial to their surrounding ecosystems. Biologist John Todd, one of the key developers of the Living Machines, of John Todd Ecological Design will keynote the opening night.

The When: Thursday – Friday, February 18-19, 2016, 8:00 am – 5:15 pm

The Where: The event will take place at Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, California, U.S.

The Who: Net Positive attracts attendees from every corner of the green building movement. Architecture firms, affordable housing nonprofits, utility companies, developers and manufacturers are drawn to the opportunities to learn from and network with experts and decision makers that are ready to take action.

The Details: ILFI is thrilled to bring the event to downtown San Diego—a walkable urban area located on the waterfront and very close to the Amtrak station. The hotel offers daylighting and showcases San Diego’s commitment to green building. Thursday will kick off with tours of local projects that highlight local solutions for net positive energy and water in this arid bioregion, workshops and summits and end with a reception, Opening Night Keynote by John Todd and Net Positive Dinners. Friday will consist of panel sessions, keynotes, and a closing reception. Some of the panel discussion themes include: Disruptive Net Positive Energy and Water Technologies, Creating Equity Through Water and Energy, and Toward Net Zero Water in Affordable Housing in Southern California.
