Located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the Panyaden International School has a new indoor – outdoor sports hall that reflects the multi-facets of nature. Chiangmai Life Architect was commissioned to create a space that would reflect the school’s philosophy of teaching human values based on the love for nature. As a result, a beautiful yet practical organic structure built out of only natural materials, mostly bamboo, and designed with modern engineering offers a space that provides shelter as well as ventilation all year round.
Bamboo, a rapidly renewable material, is often used as a building material in tropical climates such as in Southeast Asia. At the Panyaden International School, prefabricated bamboo trusses were developed to span over 17 meters without steel reinforcements or connections. See here for the original article.
