This educational tour explores the all-mass timber South San Francisco Wellness Center, highlighting mass timber design strategies in a modern healthcare environment. The facility combines glulam columns and beams with cross-laminated timber floor plates to house medical offices and a community wellness clinic. Participants will tour the completed site to examine construction practices, detailing techniques, structural capacity, and fire resistance methods for exposed timber. Led by structural engineer Chelsea Drenick, the interactive walk-through offers practical technical insights into material selection, biophilic occupant benefits, and collaborative delivery from design through fabrication.
