This regional in-person program blends a technical seminar on mass timber educational facilities with an interactive building tour of Workbench. The instructional session covers mass timber applications across K through 12 campuses, examining drivers like construction speed, cost comparisons, International Building Code provisions, fire performance, and long span framing for cafeterias and gymnasiums. Attendees then tour Workbench, a four-story, 45,000-square-foot development built using glulam and cross-laminated timber panels. The walkthrough examines real-world connection detailing, biophilic exposed wood elements, and trade coordination, concluding with an on-site networking hour.

What you’ll learn
