Efficiency Without Disruption: Protecting Renters in Energy Efficiency Programs

This webinar examines the challenges and solutions surrounding energy efficiency and electrification retrofits in rental housing. Upgrading older equipment with modern systems can lower operational energy expenses and enhance resident comfort. However, projects that lack proactive planning risk displacing occupants, triggering rent spikes, interrupting vital building services, or causing severe tenant disruption. Presented by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, this online session addresses the need to balance decarbonization goals with tenant protections, offering insights into designing upgrade programs that safeguard vulnerable renters while modernizing residential building stock.
