Rebuild Green Expo

Rebuild Green Expo will take place on February 23rd, 2018 in Santa Rosa, California, U.S. This free event is to provide the North Bay Fire Communities with resilient and affordable rebuilding options. Friends at the USGBC Redwood Empire Chapter, Ecological Building Network, Design Avenues LLC, Sustainable North Bay, AIA Redwood Empire, Net-Zero Energy Coalition, Siegel & Strain Architects are helping to organize the Rebuild Green Expo. Learn about ways to support rebuilding in the North Bay with sustainability practices and materials.

Education, information, and networking focused on resilient, affordable, community-centered “green” rebuilding options for the communities affected by the recent North Bay fires. Learn about energy-efficient Zero Net Energy residences, financing green building, adding granny units, 100% renewable electricity, fire-resistant construction, sustainable materials, microgrids, electric vehicles, and more!

Why Green?

• Economic – energy, water, and other efficiencies don’t necessarily cost more, and yet, most pay for themselves within a few years and offer significant savings in long-term operating costs. In addition, efficiencies in construction can actually reduce building costs, and incentives can often provide even more savings. (PG&E and Sonoma Clean Power are developing incentives for homeowners rebuilding after the fire, and will be sharing them at the EXPO.)
• Health – homes designed to provide good indoor air quality and non-toxic materials are healthier for people and other living things.
• Resiliency – making sustainable and renewable choices, such as micro-grids, batteries, water reuse systems, and more, make neighborhoods and communitiies more likely to withstand fires, earthquakes and other potential threats with less disruption and faster recovery.
• Environment – making sustainable choices is good for the planet.
